Modern Homes are experienced, trade qualified architectural builders. For more than two decades, we have been working with architects and architectural designers across the greater Wellington region turning detailed architectural plans into beautifully crafted, quality finished, modern homes.

Our residential work includes energy efficient homes with passive home principles. The Gables, built by Modern Homes and architecturally designed by Threeline Studio, is based on Passive House principle and was awarded the 2022 NZIA Housing Award in the Wellington Architectural Awards
We also build contemporary and traditional house designs, new homes, renovations and alterations and multi-unit developments. Our team is experienced in recladding and weathertightness remediation projects, hard landscaping and property/rental maintenance.
Our commercial work includes small commercial fit outs. We also have a team dedicated to building maintenance.
Experience
Modern Homes was formed in 2004. Owner and project manager, Rob Pavan, has over 40 years experience in the building industry many of which have been dedicated to managing residential and commercial projects, and property development. Rob completed his apprenticeship in Wellington in the 1980’s and is a strong advocate of the industry apprenticeship programme training many apprentices through to trade qualification. “It’s important to pass on your knowledge and skills. It helps create confident and resilient builders with good problem-solving and people skills,” says Rob.
Rob is a Licensed Building Practitioner and a member of New Zealand Certified Builders. Modern Homes works with qualified and reputable sub-trades and suppliers.
